Schering Stiftung

The independent and non-profit Ernst Schering Foundation (Schering Stiftung) aims to promote science and art. It is both an operating and grant-making foundation.

In arts and culture, the foundation focuses on the contemporary fine and visual arts including dance and music. In its Project Space in Berlin-Mitte, it presents shows by international contemporary artists who develop their projects specifically for this exhibition space. Every two years, the Schering Stiftung Art Award, given in cooperation with KW Institute for Contemporary Art, honors international artists who are seen as the most important newcomers in the fine and visual arts.

In science, the focus is on the life and natural sciences. The focus is on promoting biochemical, neuroscience and immunological basic research with biomedical implications, as well as on fostering young scientists.

One of the foundation’s key concerns is to promote the interdisciplinary dialogue, especially between art and science.
