For the second time, Verein Berliner Kaufleute und Industrieller (VBKI) will be awarding the VBKI-Preis BERLINER GALERIEN together with Landesverband Berliner Galerien (lvbg) for an outstanding gallery project during BERLIN ART WEEK 2018.
The VBKI-Preis BERLINER GALERIEN seeks to promote newcomer galleries that with promote the diversity of artistic production in Berlin. The gallery programme’s emphasis needs to be placed on the primary market of contemporary art so typical of Berlin.
The price is directed at new professional galleries located in Berlin (founded anywhere from three to ten years ago). They can apply with a special exhibition project that will be realized during Berlin Art Week this fall. The prize money is 10,000 €. Berlin is one of Europe’s top addresses for art: but when it comes to the art market, the German capital still has some catching up to do. Nominated are three emerging Berlin galleries, each dedicating an exhibition to one artist from their gallery programme: DITTRICH & SCHLECHTRIEM with Nicola Martini, DANIEL MARZONA with Aron Mehzion, and SCHWARZ CONTEMPORARY with Marlon Wobst.
