"Tanz im August" is Berlin's international festival for contemporary dance. Initiated in 1988 by the Hebbel Theater (today's HAU Hebel am Ufer), the annual, four-weeks long festival celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. From 10 August to 2 September, audiences can expect both, international and Berlin based productions at various venues in the city. For example, choreographer Isabelle Schad will be showing her performative exhibition "INSIDE OUT" from 16.-19. August at the KINDL Center for Contemporary Art, which this year is a new partner of the Berlin Art Week.
In addition to the performances, "Tanz im August" opens up unusual approaches to its programme in accompanying audience formats such as talks and workshops.
Incidentally, HAU Hebbel am Ufer is going to the Reinbeckhallen in Oberschöneweide for this year's Berlin Art Week, where choreographer Meg Stuart and her company Damaged Goods are developing the production Projecting [Space [ which was conceived for the 2017 Ruhrtriennale.
