On June 6, KW Institute for Contemporary Art will open the award winner exhibition of the artist Anna Daučíková (born 1950 in Bratislava), winner of the 2018 Schering Stiftung Art Award, which is being realized in cooperation with KW. The artist's first major monographic exhibition provides an overview of her artistic work from the past four decades. Daučíková repeatedly questions the construction of identity, stereotypical role patterns or historiography in Eastern European societies. She also advocates the rights of the LGBTQ community in Slovakia. In her extensive oeuvre, Daučíková increasingly works with performative means and with the medium of video, but also unites painting, photography, collage, film, and sculpture. The solo exhibition is curated by Anna Gritz and Cathrin Mayer, more information about the art award and the exhibition can be found here.
