On Saturday, June 1, 2019, TROPEZ will open AMOUR, their exhibition program for the upcoming bathing season. The kiosk, which is located at Sommerbad Humboldthain, does not only offer the public pool typical and untypical snacks but also is a space for art. Founder Nele Heinevetter caters fries, wine gums and popsicles next to couscous, Frozé (= Frozen Rosé), filter coffee with the geographical indication of origin and banana bread. In addition, there will be a group display, readings, performances, and installations.
Art-loving visitors stop by from all parts of the city. As the regular bathers also take their time to browse the art TROPEZ decided to develop a special kid’s program. Last year, an underwater sound installation delighted the younger visitors, this time there will be a puppet theater by Das Helmi. "TROPEZ`S summer exhibition is a declaration of love to the pool visitors. The exhibition presents works of art addressing the surrounding park, the communication between the swimmers and the body as a coveted object of desire. Pool visitors will encounter installations, photographs, films, VR installations and digital works dealing with the intersections of ecology, poetry, technology and politics." (Tropez)
Works by Gili Avissar, Kira Bunse, Natalie Czech, Constant Dullaart, Julie Favreau, Bertrand Flanet, Luzie Meyer and Hayal Pozanti will be presented at the vernissage. Tropez is one of the winners of this year's project space award which will be celebrated during Berlin Art Week. On Sunday at 4pm one of last year's award winners, Broken Dimanche Press, will be hosting a reading at TROPEZ: LITERATURE AT THE PPOL: POOLSIDE READING WITH BARUKUNAN.
TROPEZ and its art program are free, but the submission for the public pool is 5.50 Euros (3.50 Euros reduced).
