Berlin Art Week kicks off with:

Artist Films, Berlin Biennale Special, Exhibition Openings

Shortly after the exhibition openings of Berlin Art Week partners  Akademie der Künste, Haus am Waldsee, C/O Berlin, and neue Gesellschaft für bildende Kunst, now things really get going: for Berlin Art Week eight art locations that will be receiving the Award for Artistic Project Spaces and Initiatives open their exhibitions on Tuesday. After kicking-off Berlin Art Week at Kino International, on Wednesday five exhibition openings and two special events fill up both day and night with art experiences. At 11 am, Artist Films at Kino International will begin, at noon  the finale of the 9th Berlin Biennale takes off along with the exhibition at me Collectors Room. In the evening, exhibitions at Schering Stiftung, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Berlinische Galerie and Hamburger Bahnhof open consecutively.

Art Fairs and Performances

Thursday marks the openings at the art fairs abc art berlin contemporary and POSITIONS BERLIN. At abc at Station Berlin, it’s about the pleasure in experimentation and an openness for change. Positions Berlin focuses on the discovery and rediscovery of artistic positions. From Thursday until Saturday, three performance by Jérôme Bel will be held at HAU Hebbel am Ufer.

Project Spaces and abc Gallery Night

For the five-year jubilee celebration, this year 20 art locations are the recipients of Berlin’s artistic project space award. Before the awards presentation, most of the current exhibitions of the prize-winners around the city will be on view and the Network of Independent Project Spaces and Initiatives hosts a panel discussion. In the evening, all abc Berlin galleries hold openings to mark the abc Gallery Night.

Private Collections, Guided Tours and more

Berlin Art Week offers the opportunity to visit select private collections. Nine collectors show their own personal emphases and collecting passions. Niche Berlin provides tours at project spaces in various neighbourhoods. The calendar shows what else the week has to offer.
