Extended Sunset at Hamburger Bahnhof—National Gallery for Contemporary Art

Starting 8 pm sharp at Nordtor, Hamburger Bahnhof

On 13 SEP 2025 at Hamburger Bahnhof—National Gallery for Contemporary Art, for Berlin Art Week Hani Hape presents ›B’ini‹ for the fi rst time—a revolving stage, a carousel bathed in the hues of an extended sunset.

Hape’s work stems from a single, unconsummated moment in Harry’s Bar, Venice—a Bellini shared with a yet-unrealized desire. That encounter, left unresolved, becomes here an act of magical thinking: the feeling abstracted, amplifi ed, and staged to excess, until desire itself turns into a totalized, experience.

Anthropomorphic waiters in leather aprons—half human, half design—serve to whoever enters. It is a scene of obsession, looping endlessly tender around its absent object. Echoes of the Jet Set’s golden age resound—glamour at the end of time, where consumption becomes ritual and decay seductive. In ›B’ini‹, longing is totalized into form: a luminous fi ction in which the unavailable is fetishized—love’s imaginary elevated into a circular world that never stops turning.
