Founded in 1969, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.) with its two collections Artothek and Video Forum and its interdisciplinary discourse program is a public site of contemporary art production rich in tradition, communicating aesthetic experience and providing a platform for dialogue between artists, theorists, and visitors. n.b.k. sees itself as an educational institution that explores issues of the period, initiating discussions and inspiring debate on socially relevant issues and questions from art and philosophy, on transculturality, feminism, globalization, or digital culture. With this dynamic approach, as an internationally oriented art institution with local contexts in mind Neuer Berliner Kunstverein invites active participation in cultural processes.

In its two collections, the Artothek with over 4,000 works of international art of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries and our Video-Forum with over 1,600 works, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein’s reveals its mission to reach a broad segment of the population. As a lively hub of Berlin’s art world, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein provides enduring impulses for contemporary art discourse.
