The Schering Stiftung promotes the life sciences, the contemporary arts, as well as scientific and cultural education. A key focus of the Foundation’s activities is on projects at the interface of science and art. This includes exhibitions and dialogue formats that bring together scientists, artists, and the general public.

The Schering Stiftung is an operational foundation. It develops its own projects and programs and realizes them alone or in collaboration with partners.

The independent, nonprofit foundation was established in 2002 by Schering AG, Berlin, and has an endowment of 35 million euro. Decisions about how to allocate the funds are made twice a year by the Foundation Council which is comprised of high-level personalities from the fields of culture, science, and business.
