Schinkel Pavillon e.V., under the direction of artists Nina Pohl, offers contemporary sculpture, installations, and media art in a monument of GDR architecture between Staatsoper and Kronzprinzenpalais. The exhibition space presents artists from Germany and around the world. A non-profit organization, Schnikel Pavilion promotes true autonomy of the fine arts, resisting financial constraints and operating as a non-commercial forum. For over ten years now, young and established artists such as Isa Genzken, Mike Kelley, Oscar Tuazon, or Cyprien Gaillard have developed projects that engage with the special characteristics of the glass pavilion, designed in 1969 by Richard Paulick and the Schnikel Klause, a former pub located beneath it.
