For the fourth time, the VBKI-Preis Berliner Galerien will be awarded to an outstanding exhibition project during Berlin Art Week. This prize, which is organized by Verein Berliner Kaufleute und Industrieller (VBKI) and Landesverband Berliner Galerien (lvbg) and supported by the Senate Department for Economics, Energy, and Public Enterprises, is intended to promote Berlin as an art market location and especially the work of young, upcoming galleries. Berlin galleries can apply who have been active for at least three and at most ten years as a gallery working in the primary market, i.e., dealing with works obtained directly from the artists.
The galleries apply with an exhibition project that is then held during Berlin Art Week.
For the shortlist this year, the expert jury has chosen the galleries ChertLüdde, Noah Klink, and Tanja Wagner. In early September, they will visit the exhibitions and choose the winner of the prize, who will receive an award of 10,000 euros. For the first time this year, the two other nominated galleries will also receive a prize of 2,500 euros.
