11. BERLIN BIENNALE c/o
KW INSTITUT FOR CONTEMPORARY ART
The 11th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art is curated by María Berríos, Renata Cervetto, Lisette Lagnado, and Agustín Pérez Rubio. The members of this intergenerational, female identified team of South American curators envision this edition as a series of lived experiences. Since September 2019, the 11th Berlin Biennale has been unfolding as a process through a series of lived experiences with ›exp. 1‹, ›exp. 2‹, and ›exp. 3‹. From September 5 to November 1, 2020, the upcoming exhibition, the epilogue, will bring together in four locations—11th Berlin Biennale c/o ExRotaprint, daadgalerie, Gropius Bau, and KW Institute for Contemporary Art—these experiences and the issues they raise. In their diverse modes of articulating solidarity, fragility, and resistance, these contributions rise up to materialize the complicated beauty of life amidst the turbulent times we inhabit.
An online program will be made available in several stages on the website, Vimeo, and Instagram as an accompaniment to the fourth and final part of the 11th Berlin Biennale (5 SEP—1 NOV 2020). During digital tours, the curators will introduce the exhibition’s various parts. Artists will share films, video works, and texts that complement their contributions. Over the course of four ›Gatherings‹, together with invited artists and guests, the curators will discuss the Biennale's core issues. Documentation of these events will be subsequently published online. The FCNN – Feminist Collective With No Name is developing a new work especially for Instagram. Since July 25, 2020, Sirenes Errantes have run an ongoing online project that can be accessed on www.escuchasion.space. Upon prior registration, visitors can take part in a one-hour exercise there. Afterward, an archive with recordings from these exercises will be published on the website. Documentation of the activities that have been carried out since September 2019 during the first three parts of the 11th Berlin Biennale is available in the media library.
